As we mentioned in one of our previous Mykonos posts, the white-washed maze of streets has so many hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.
You can find yourself lost in the labyrinth and then unexpectantly pop out at some picture-perfect moment just dying to be snapped.
That’s exactly what happened whilst we were exploring and came across the iconic Mykonos Windmills.
Sat perched on a hill they proudly line the horizon, standing tall and creating a wonderful backdrop for the town.
There are 16 windmills on the island in total and seven are positioned here in Mykonos Town.
Not only are the windmills pretty to wander around and explore they are also hiding a secret; possibly some of the best views in Mykonos.
Just down from the windmills is ‘Little Venice’.
Named aptly after the fact the colourful, elegant buildings have been precariously constructed right beside the waters edge with balconies overhanging the sea below, much like its Italian counterpart.
This is the area everyone gathers to watch the sun set across the Aegean Sea.
They also do some fantastic cocktails so you can kick back and relax…
…whilst watching the sky turn from bright blue, to a burning amber in a flash.
It’s a very romantic setting and perfect for couples looking for an extra-special evening together on the island.
