Before booking our trip to Paris we spent so much time on Google looking at where the best places in Paris were to get those awesome Instagram shots we all see so often on the photo sharing app!
To be honest, we struggled to find much and so decided to seek them all out for ourselves and pull them into this handy blog post for you all.
Below is just a snap shot of some of the best places to get gorgeous photographs of many of the iconic Parisienne landmarks, such as; the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre.
Arc de Triomphe
First on the list is the Arc de Triomphe; it is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, situated at the western end of the Champs-Élysées and proudly standing in the centre of a ridiculously busy roundabout.
If you don’t like people/cars in your shots then be sure to give yourself plenty of time here… you’ll need it in order to capture that ‘I have this place all to myself’ photo!
There are so many places in the city to get a fantastic shot of Paris’ most iconic building.
One of our favourite places was Rue de l’Universite, a side street set at the very foot of the iron tower and the perfect place to get a gorgeous autumnal shot, due to the soft stone coloured walls and golden embellished trees.
If you want to grab a shot a little further away you need to hop across the Pont d’lena bridge over the River Seine.
Here you can either perch yourself on the bridge or hop across the road and grab a shot by the carousel. The bright but vintage colours of the twirling ride can add an interesting element to your photographs.
From here take a wander up to the Trocadéro building, set on a hill it offers some fantastic views of the Eiffel Tower, the higher up you get the more impactful the photographs become.
We unfortunately didn’t manage to come here at sunrise or sunset but we’ve seen so many gorgeous photographs taken here at this time of day and they look absolutely stunning, so we’d definitely recommend.
This street is fast becoming an Instagram hotspot, we’ve seen so many fab photographs taken here recently by some of the greatest travel bloggers, although it’s currently not too busy so be sure to get there quick! It’s bound to be busy as hell soon!
Rue Cremieux is a pedestrian street with private houses, all of which are brightly coloured and adorned with quaint plant pots and baskets outside.
You’ll need no more than 30 minutes here to grab a few fun and vibrant shots to brighten up your Instagram feed before moving on.
Sacré-Cœur Basilica is a Roman Catholic church and a popular landmark, the basilica is located in Montmartre, the highest point in the city and offers some beautiful shots of the Paris skyline.
Much like the Eiffel Tower, there are many places to get some great photographs at this landmark.
If you head around the back of the church you find yourself on a grey cobbled pathway with the Basilica as the backdrop, here we got some of our favourite shots of the entire trip.
You can also pay a small fee to climb to the top of the Basilica, in total there are 270 steps, so it’s not for the faint hearted!
From the top there are magnificent panoramic view of Paris including Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Pantheon, the Opera house, and the Montparnasse Tower.
The architecture of the building also lends itself well to capturing some breathtaking shots, especially when the lighting is good.
At the foot of Sacré-Cœur there is another carousel and yet another great spot for a photo or two.
Finally, our fifth pick for an iconic shot in Paris has to be taken at the Louvre. It is the world’s largest art museum which exhibits approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century.
Whilst inside there is so much beauty to discover, the outside also has a lot to offer you and your camera!
The iconic pyramid shaped glass ‘greenhouses’ are the perfect backdrop; the sharp lines and clear, bright glass add a unique and different setting to your photos.
