We were lucky enough to be in Mykonos when Scorpios were hosting their opening party and even luckier to get an invite…. and it ended up being our favourite evening spent on the island.
Scorpios describe themselves as being ‘built around a contemporary interpretation of the ancient greek agora, Scorpios is a gathering place meant to galvanize the artistic, spiritual, and social life of the community.’
We couldn’t agree more; from the buildings and surroundings to the staff, food, and ambiance everything is extremely laid back, bohemian and casual. Just the type of evening you need after a busy day exploring Mykonos Town.
When we arrived we were welcomed on to the beach and found a spot right beside the sea, perfect for sipping cocktails whilst listening to the ocean crashing against the rocks below us.
Scorpios is nestled between the bays of Kavos and Paraga, and is the perfect setting to watch the kaleidoscope of blue, yellow, gold, pink and red turn on the horizon from the setting of the Cycladic sun.
We settled down on to a beanbag and both ordered a G&T from the extremely extensive wine and cocktail menu. We spent the next hour listening to the sounds of Birds of Mind playing in tune with the swirl of the ocean.
This ended up being our soundtrack for the holiday and since returning home we often pop their music on the Bose to take us back to Scorpios, if only for a few minutes.
The beach is nestled amongst many beach cabanas made of bamboo and twine, we didn’t visit Scorpios in the day but would recommend coming here to sunbathe as it’s picture perfect and we imagine it’s probably the best sunbathing experience ever!
After wondering around feeling the sand between our toes and watching in amazement as a man balances a crystal ball in the most obscure places, we sat down to devour the feast of deliciousness that was before us.
The restaurant is a mix of rustic wooden tables, chairs and hanging pendant lighting.
It’s an open plan and open air communal space which still allows you to enjoy the sea views and feel the ocean breeze whilst you dine. Just perfect!
Serving only organic, local, gourmet, and predominantly vegetarian food the menu offers an array of beautiful prepared and cooked small dishes with a clear greek theme.
We opted for a super fresh and fragrant salad of plum tomatoes, capers, feta, bread and lashings of olive oil.
A mixed bread basket to help scoop up the fresh (and best we’ve ever tasted!) avocado tzatziki and the whipped feta and paprika dip.
Simple but mouthwateringly good bar-b-qued octopus.
Finished with beef tartare prepared directly at our table… SO GOOD!
Honestly, the food was incredible. Whilst fairly pricey it really is worth every penny.
After dinner we wandered around the festoon lit bohemian party space…
…and were treated to a fire poi display beside the amber burning, beach bonfire.
Scorpios call this whole experience their sunset ritual, coming to this perfect setting to enjoy good company, good music and good food whilst the sun is setting… please, please, please promise us you’ll spend a day and evening at Scorpios if you’re ever in Mykonos, you really won’t regret it!
